Practice Act

The Louisiana Veterinary Practice Act, the Board’s Rules, and complimentary legal authority are provided as a courtesy to the reader. However, they are continuously under review and potentially subject to adoption, amendment, or repeal at any time based on circumstances presented. Accordingly, the law and Rules set forth on the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine’s website may not be completely accurate in content at a given time due to the short delay necessary to update the web page. Therefore, it is advised that the reader verify with the LBVM office on the validity of legal authority. It would be prudent to follow appropriate procedure when submitting queries, when applicable, by reviewing Rule 1423 regarding Declaratory Statements.

The following emergency rule is in effect for the designated time and may supersede other rules on the same subject matter. Additionally, generally regular rulemaking procedures are in progress regarding a current emergency rule. For current status of an emergency rule, please contact the Board office.

The Louisiana Practice Act, Rules and Standards, Complimentary Laws, and Code of Ethics are now available in one document. Last Revised: November 2014.
